Course Description:
History 3 is a survey of music history based on the Romantic Era, Modern Era, and Canadian Music.
Students will study and be examined on biographical information of the representative composer, their compositional style, and selected works from the above eras. To minimize the cost of studying music history this course will use online resources extensively. This includes:
General Information:
Completion of Course: Students are required to complete the course within a 12 month period. If the course is not completed within a 12 month period, students will be required to pay half the course tuition to have access to the online course material until the next examination period.
Examination Dates: Examination Sessions occur the second Friday of August, December, and May.
Online Courses are web-based. The course website will provide the student with tutorial videos, online resources, assignments, and online reviews and quizzes. All online courses require that a student has a basic understanding of how to maneuver around the internet, email, and how to email attachments.
Required Textbook and Software:
Required Textbooks: Explorations 3, Music History from 19th Century to Present (not included in course tuition)
Scanner: Students will need access to a scanner for scanning their assignments or practise exams.
Software: Students will need Adobe Reader (free software) to view pdf files.

Face to Face Instruction:
If needed, Face to Face Instruction is available through Skype, FaceTime (for Mac and iPad users), or in studio lessons, if students are in the area. The cost of for Face to Face Instruction will be billed at the hourly rate of private instructions. Face to Face Instruction can be set up as needed and as decided upon the student and instructor.

Registering for the Online Course: The Registration fee and tuition are required before the course begins and must accompany the registration form. Refund Policy: There is no refund for missed classes/assignments nor for early withdrawal from course. This is due to the fact that students will have access to the course material once they have accessed the course website.

- Online Recordings: Subscription is required, which is included in the Course Tuition.
- Online Scores
- Resources: Handouts, other online resources, and the use of the Studio website (password is required).
- Online Videos: Online videos include instructional/lecture videos, YouTube clips, as well as paid subscription videos. The subscription for videos is included in the Course Tuition. All videos will be accessed through the course website.
