Piano Pedagogy
Course Description:
Piano Pedagogy is offered for any examination system (not just the RCM exams). Although, the material covered in the online Piano Pedagogy course will enable students to write any pedagogy examination, students do not have to take exams. This allows current teachers to further their own education and professional development.
The Pedagogy course is designed into topics so students are able to study the required areas for the specific examination they are preparing.
To minimize the cost of studying pedagogy this course will use online resources extensively, but not exclusively. These may include, recordings, score studies, handouts, online articles, lecture videos, and workshop videos. These will all be accessed through the course website.
The course work will consist of readings, research, viewing of videos and writing assignments, based on the topic of study.
Examination Systems Offered:
Although taking exams from a formal recognized conservatory is not required, pedagogy study can be taken with the following conservatory examinations:
Royal Conservatory of Music:
- Elementary Piano Pedgagoy
- Intermediate Piano Pedgagoy - Advanced Piano Pedgagoy
- Associate Diploma - Piano Pedgagoy
Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music:
- Early Childhood Music Educator Diploma
- Primary and Elementary Piano Pedagogy Diploma
- Associate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy (by credits)
- Licentiate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy (by credits)
- Junior Fellowship Diploma in Piano Pedagogy (by credits)
- Senior Fellowship Diploma in Piano Pedagogy (by credits)
Conservatory Canada:
- Associate Piano Pedagogy Diploma
Required Textbook:
Various textbooks and articles. Some of these can be accessed online while others may be obtained through a local library or borrowed from the instructor. Students will be expected to buy their own copy of music books (scores) for examinations.
Course Tuition Fee:
For the Tuition Fee, please email me with what you will want to study; as this will affect the tuition fee.
Face to Face Instruction:
When needed, Face to Face Instruction is available through Skype, FaceTime, or in studio lessons, if students are in the area. The cost of for Face to Face Instruction will be billed at the hourly rate of private instructions and will be determined by the goals of the student.
