Private Lessons
Private Lessons are offered in all levels:
- Music Learning Theory/Audiation (see description below)
All piano private lessons are one-on-one instruction.
While all conservatory/examinations systems are taught, it is not necessary for all students to take conservatory examinations.
Lesson lengths range from 45 minutes to two-60 minute lessons per week, depending on the level of study and the amount of subjects covered in a lesson.
Please note that in registering for lessons there are two options. The first option being one lesson per week; while the second and most favorable option is two lessons per week. The two lessons per week has been implemented in the past with great success. As with gymnastics, dance, swimming, hockey and other events, two-weekly lesson will promote greater learning and a stronger musical foundation.

Traditional Approach Private Piano Lessons.
The Traditional Approach to private lessons is what most people are familiar with. This involves picking a method book series that best fits the individual student and following along the method series course, with supplemental material incorporated into the lesson. The traditional approach incorporates reading notation from the very beginning or very shortly after lessons begin. Musicianship skills such as improvising, transposing, theory, and the understanding of music are introduced later in the program.
Even though a student may decide to go with the Traditional Approach to Piano Lessons, elements of Music Learning Theory will be incorporated into the lesson.

Music Learning Theory - Audiation Approach
Music Learning Theory is an explanation of how we learn when we learn music. Based on an extensive body of brain research and practical field testing by Edwin E. Gordon and others, Music Learning Theory provides the student with a comprehensive method for learning musicianship through audiation, Gordon’s term for hearing music in the mind with understanding. Music Learning Theory builds on the revolutionary thinking of Orff, Dalcroze, Suzuki, and Kodaly. From the beginning of lessons, students learn how to audiate while they develop keyboard performing skills.
Music Learning Theory is a sequential learning process that guides students to hear music with understanding. The music learning process is similar to how we learn language: listen, speak/perform, think/improvise, read and write.
