Studio Policy for Private Lessons

Monthly Tuition Fee
The monthly tuition fee is based on 32 lessons in the year for piano lessons and 30 lessons per year for Theoretical lessons. This allows for the teacher to take in professional development, adjudicate and examine throughout the year.  Arrangement can be made for extra lessons to accommodate students who have exams after they have received their number of lessons.

Registration Fee:
The Registration helps offsets the cost of recital hall rentals; as well as will allow students to participate in the SRMTA-Regina Branch Recitals.

Scheduling of Lessons:
Students have two options for lessons.
Option A:
1 – 45 minute weekly lesson
1 – 60 minute weekly lesson
1 – 75 minute weekly lesson
1 – 90 minute weekly lesson
Option B:
2 – 30 minute weekly lesson
2 – 45 minute weekly lesson
2 – 60 minute weekly lesson

Scheduling of Lessons
Please list all possible times for lessons on the registration form.  Up to two group lessons may take place during the year, as well as in-studio masterclasses; these will be in lieu of private lessons.

Registration Information
To Register: Complete the Registration Form and submit it with the first month’s tuition fees and registration fee.  Upon receiving the Registration Form, registration fee and payment for the first month of lessons, a time will be scheduled.

Tuition: Payment for the first month of lessons is due at the time of registration. Payment is accepted by cash or cheque.  Post-dated cheques are required for the remaining months - dated for the first of each month (Oct 1  - June 1) for a total of 10 months.   All arrangements for tuition payment must be made and received at the time of registration.  In the event that lessons begin during the year, the number of lessons will be calculated to determine the monthly tuition.

Refund Policy: If lessons are discontinued in mid-year, or lesson time decreased, at least one full month’s notice must be given in writing.  If this notice is not given one month’s tuition will be required.  If lessons are discontinued within the last two months of the teaching year, tuition is still required for the remainder of the year.  If enrolled in a class, there is no refund for missed class lessons nor for early withdrawal from a class.

If the teacher cancels a class or lesson, it will be rescheduled at a later time.

Regularity of Attendance and Missed-Lesson Policy
In completing and signing a Registration Form a student is contracting with the teacher a specific number of lessons.

Notification of inability to attend a lesson is essential 24 hours in advance, but cannot excuse you from payment of lessons which you have contracted.  Only at the teacher’s discretion will allowances or make-up lessons be rescheduled.  The inability to attend lessons due to family vacations or school trips will not be rescheduled nor refunded.  This policy helps to insure regularity at lessons and consequently makes steady progress possible.

Student Illness:
In the event that your child is too sick to attend school the day of their lesson, then please keep them home rather than sending them to their lesson.  In such cases, at the discretion of the teacher, the lesson will be rescheduled or made up at a later time.

Lesson Exchange
In the event that a student needs to change his/her lesson time, students and parents are recommended to use the Lesson Exchange Sheet  – this will help to ensure that students will receive their lesson for that week.
